Your article was posted by a friend, who’s an Australian Expat there, and I enjoyed it very much. When you quote Haroon’s comment that its better to “stay and make it better” – I’m interested to know what a foreigner to the country can do to make it better.
I get the strong impression that when you go there you get locked into a cloistered world of privilege and comfort – and I would think it would be hard to break out of that to actually dig into what makes the country tick, and harder still to make any meaningful contribution.
